Health & Dental Plans

Background Information and Eligibility

  • Both plans were approved by student referendum and are a requirement of your enrolment at Ridgetown Campus
  • These plans aid students in maintaining the quality of health at a reasonable price
  • The cost of the plans is included in your fees if you meet the eligibility enrolment criteria
  • You will automatically be enrolled in both plans if you meet the following criteria:
  1. You're studying full-time in a diploma or certificate program (2.00 credits or more)
  2. You're in an applicable program
  3. You're residing in Canada, and
  4. You're under the age of 70
  • Students with accessibility needs who are studying part-time may be eligible to opt-in to the plans. Please contact the Student Benefits Plan Office for further details prior to the opt-out/opt-in deadline of September 22, 2023.

Provider Information and Coverage Period

  • Canada Life is the insurance provider, which is coordinated through our broker, Gallivan
  • Full details of the health and dental plans can be found on Ridgetown Campus' www.mystudentplan.ca website
  • The coverage period is from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024
  • New, eligible students will be active on the health and dental plans approximately 45 days from the start of the semester, so make sure you keep any receipts for eligible expenses in a safe spot so you can submit a claim after you become active on the plans
  • Students can create and download their own benefits card at www.mystudentplan.ca

Opting-Out of the Plans

  • If you have comparable, Canadian health and/or dental coverage under a different insurance plan, you can apply to opt-out of the student health and/or dental plans
  • The opt-out process must be completed online on the www.mystudentplan.ca website
  • Your opt-out will automatically carry forward into subsequent years and you will not be assessed the health and/or dental fee
  • You must pay for the health and dental plans as part of your compulsory student fees. You will receive a credit on your student account in late October if you have successfully opted-opted out of the health and/or dental plans
  • Provincial health plans (ex. OHIP) are not considered comparable coverage
